Theme:  Cultivating a Growth-Oriented Feedback Culture

As educators, how do we navigate the feedback landscape following formative and summative assessment of learning? How do we ensure feedback literacy is reciprocated with our learners? This CPD event will encompass various aspects of feedback literacy, emphasising the need for understanding  feedback dynamics, the language of feedback, tools and techniques to make feedback constructive and a catalyst for feedforward to promote self-reflection and continuous improvement.

Edd has recently been collaborating with Academics in the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong and Australia. His principal research field is Assessment and Feedback with a particular focus upon student's use of feedback. His most recent collaboration resulted in a systematic literature review of Assessment and Feedback articles between 2016 - 2021 commissioned by Advance HE. He has also recently released an associated game-based workshop called Assessment & Feedback Superchargers.

Chahna is a Senior Lecturer in Marketing and Education Lead at King’s College London, specializing in effective assessment and feedback, communication, and the integration of generative AI in education. As a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, Chahna's contributions to the field are recognized through her publications in leading journals and her receipt of funding from prestigious bodies such as the UK Council for International Student Affairs and the Academy of Marketing.

Theme: Fostering Engagement Through Playful Learning 

In this CPD event, attendees will delve into the integration of playful learning methodologies, such as LEGO® Serious Play®, within higher education pedagogy. Through an exploration of current research, theoretical frameworks, and practical strategies, participants will gain insight into creating a conducive learning environment that  fosters critical thinking and collaboration among students. Engaging in hands-on activities, attendees will be encouraged to design playful learning experiences relevant to their disciplines, providing them with actionable tools to enhance student engagement and retention in their classrooms.

In addition to his role as an instructional designer, Isaac is also an experienced facilitator. With 15 years of teaching experience at some of the world's most prestigious schools, Isaac has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best facilitators of learning. He now uses these skills to help groups gain clarity, insight, and supercharge their collective capacity for creativity.

Paloma has 10 years of specialist knowledge and experience as a Health Visitor, currently still working in practice within the NHS. About LEGO play Paloma says ''Implementing LEGO Serious Play (LSP) within my teaching has become a passion of mine. The problem of the ability of students to reflect became evident during the teaching of a first-year module “The Principles of Care”, making her question to what degree reflection actually helps students to link theory to practice''. Paloma's current research focus is LEGO play in HE and how this teaching and learning phenomenon can aid students’ reflection. Her Publication is named "LEGO® play “builds” students …Changing learning through LEGO® play- a passage to critical reflection?

Dr Amanda Costello has worked in education for 25 years and is a Registered Nurse Learning Disabilities, Fellow Chartered College of Education, Senior Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Bolton. Her experiences are in Forensic Nursing Adolescents and Adults, Community Nursing, Special Education Needs pedagogy and Education Leadership. Amanda has worked on an NHS England funded project: Learners at risk of attrition. Additional interests include university wide research workshop delivery and facilitation and PhD supervision including internal and external examination.
